Dr. Amir Anwar Shaker is an Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at Cairo University’s Kasr Al Ainy Faculty of Medicine and a Consultant in Interventional Cardiology. After graduating from Kasr Al Ainy in 2005 with high distinction, he completed his residency training within the university’s Cardiology Department. He then joined the Aswan Heart Center (Magdi Yacoub Foundation), where he underwent specialized training in cardiac catheterization. In 2016, he earned his Doctorate degree in Cardiovascular Medicine with a thesis supervised by Sir Magdi Yacoub, and in 2017, he obtained his Membership in the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, UK) in London.
Dr. Amir focuses extensively on advanced coronary interventions, with specialized training in complex procedures and Chronic Total Occlusions (CTO) and Valvular Interventions. He currently leads the Complex Coronary Interventions and CTO Program at Al Nas Hospital, one of Cairo’s tertiary referral centers. During his tenure at the Aswan Heart Center, he successfully established the Balloon Mitral Valvuloplasty service and trained fellow physicians to perform the procedure independently. Alongside his clinical practice and teaching responsibilities at Kasr Al Ainy, he actively contributes to the department’s academic framework and has authored multiple research papers published in national and international medical journals.
